The Gates Millennium Scholars Program selects 1,000 talented students each year to receive a scholarship to use at any college or university of their choice up through and including a Ph.D. program. The goal is to promote academic excellence and provide an opportunity for outstanding minority students with significant financial need to reach their highest potential by reducing financial barriers and providing financial support from undergraduate through doctoral programs developing a diversified cadre of future leaders.
