MESA launch Company Convos in January to give students an opportunity to connect with industry in a virtual setting. COVID has made in-person recruitment impossible so this programming is essential for students interested in internship and employment information, recruitment processes, company culture and more.

The monthly series lets MESA community college and university students interact directly with industry professionals from top companies. They learn about company hiring, career paths, resume advice and more. These sessions are exclusive to MESA students in our community on the Jumpstart recruitment platform. Companies have lined for the chance to have an audience with our students and are scheduled through the year.

All of the Convos have been extremely well received. As an added bonus, the last two convo presenters were also MESA alumni.

Anesti Vega is an award-winning filmmaker turned oceanographer, expedition leader, and scuba instructor. He is Tupinambá and takes an Indigenous approach to ocean stewardship and conservation leadership. He was a MESA student at College of the Sequoias and is currently executive director for USX, a scientific research agency that connects military veterans to STEM field research opportunities in remote/austere environments. Stephanie Rosales is a quality assurance engineer at Riot Games, the maker of the game League of Legends. She also worked at PG&E and Naughty Dog after completing her degree in electrical engineering at San Francisco State University where she was a MESA student. As a personal goal, Stephanie strives to get more accessibility options made in video games. Stephanie continues improving the inclusivity of the Video Games Industry as a key member of Riot Games’ Diversity & Inclusion council which helps amplify the voices of marginalized groups.
